Milana Aleksandrovna Vayntrub of the American is an actor comedian, activist, and actress. After immigrating to America her birthplace was in the Soviet Union to Jewish parents. Her first professional work was as an actor for children. The appearances she made as Lily Adams in AT&T TV commercials between 2013 and 2016 - and in 2020 - have made her famous. She was also a frequent series regular on the Yahoo! Screen science fiction comedy Other Space (2015) and was a regular in the NBC drama This Is Us (2016-2017). Vayntrub was also cast as Squirrelgirl in Marvel Rising in 2018 following her role in the pilot TV series called New Warriors. Vayntrub is an Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) native, and also an American Jew. She and her parents were exiled from antisemitism by the age of two. They moved to West Hollywood. Because of financial struggles within the family, she started acting in Mattel Barbie commercials when she was just five years old. Vayntrub went to Beverly Hills High School briefly and then quit after her sophomore year. Then, she earned a GED, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication at the University of California, San Diego. She learned improv comedy from the Upright Citizens Brigade.
